What is documented in medical practices on a daily basis is almost entirely absent from research. x.panel transfers anonymised treatment data from your practice software — without any reference to the practice, the practitioners or individual patients.

Anonymisation takes place at the medical practice; the data is stored on servers in Germany, and the Bundesdruckerei acts as the trusted third party. Participating medical practices pay less for software maintenance.

Improving the data situation

By taking part in ‘x.panel’, you are helping to improve transparency in outpatient care. Up-to-date and longitudinal data not only enable conclusions to be drawn about current care practices, but also provide in-depth insights into the course of treatment routines. The improved data set offers new analytical possibilities that promote scientific progress in medicine, for example by identifying early indicators of severe disease progression or evaluating the practical feasibility of treatments. This scientific knowledge can contribute to an improvement in healthcare overall and for individual patient groups.

In compliance with data protection regulations and anonymised

x.panel enables users of practice software from medatixx to transmit outpatient care data in a manner that complies with data protection regulations and is anonymised. The anonymisation process begins locally within the practice software; the data is collected in a secure environment and made available to selected data recipients for research and statistical purposes. It is not possible to trace the data back to the individual practice, the treating doctor or the individual patient. A data transfer log on x.panel shows at any time which data has been transferred. The anonymisation concept complies with the legal framework of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). To ensure anonymity, Bundesdruckerei GmbH is additionally appointed as a trusted third party. The data is processed and stored exclusively on servers in Germany.

Practical benefit

As well as supporting healthcare research, there is another reason to join ‘x.panel’: participating practices receive an expense allowance, the amount of which varies depending on the number of doctors at the practice:

up to 4 doctors: €30.00*
Reduction in the monthly software maintenance fee
5 to 8 doctors: €35.00*
Reduction in the monthly software maintenance fee
9 or more doctors: €40.00*
Reduction in the monthly software maintenance fee

The reduction in the software maintenance fee will take effect retrospectively from the next billing period.

Reports

x.panel-Insights: Reports for practice management

Participating practices receive four data reports free of charge. These provide clear and immediately actionable information, ranging from nationwide trends in medical conditions to regional infection rates.

Trends in indications

The report highlights the most common diagnoses across Germany over the last eight full quarters and shows whether they have increased or decreased, based on anonymised practice data that is updated daily.

Infection Monitor

This system has been monitoring the incidence of acute respiratory illnesses since 2022 using daily updated and anonymised data from GP practices, and highlights changes over time and across regions to enable the early detection of relevant outbreaks.

Therapeutic measures

This report analyses the active substances most frequently prescribed across Germany over the last eight completed quarters and highlights any increases or decreases based on daily updated and anonymised data from medical practices.

Healthcare Atlas

It compares regional performance data from the last eight completed quarters with the national average and highlights differences in healthcare provision as well as demographically driven characteristics, based on daily updated and anonymised practice data.
