ePA for everyone: the nationwide launch on 29 April 2025

The nationwide rollout of the electronic patient record (ePA) has been underway since 29 April 2025. Before that, it was trialled in the model regions of Franconia, Hamburg and the surrounding area, as well as parts of North Rhine-Westphalia. This also involved 70 practices using medatixx practice software, whose feedback was incorporated into the implementation.
The ePA functions are included in all medatixx practice programs as part of the monthly software maintenance, at no extra cost. They are integrated into the familiar user interface: from the patient's consent to upload documents, through to downloading findings from the record.
What this means for your practice
In the prescription module, the electronic medication list (eML) sits alongside your practice's prescriptions. This allows you to see, during treatment, what medication co-treating colleagues have prescribed, and to use this information directly.
A functioning connection to the telematics infrastructure is required. We are happy to check with you whether everything is ready in your practice.
